Drama Club/Thespians

Chiles High School is proud to be a member of the International Thespian Association (ITS).  ITS is an international organization that recognizes students for excellence in theatre arts.  You do not have be enrolled in a theatre class to be a member of drama club.  See the upcoming events for meeting dates and activities. You do not have to be in a theatre class to become a thespian.  But, you do need to be in a theatre class to go to District or State Thespian Festivals, and the Florida Theatre Conference. We are a proud supporter of Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids.  This year our troupe earned $500 toward the Thespian funded charity. We will hold several events throughout the year to raise money toward the Thespian State goal.  Last year Thespians across Florida earned over $80,000!!  Go to BroadwayCares.org for more information.


ITS District Festival - January 3-5, 2019

You must be enrolled in a theatre arts class to be eligible to go to the Thespian District Festival. It will be held January 2019 in Niceville, Florida at the Mattie Kelley Performing Arts Center at NWFC. You may audition for an acting event (Monologue, Duet Acting, Ensemble Acting, Pantomime), musical event (Solo, Duet, Small or Large Group Ensemble) or technical events (Costume Construction, Costume Design, Makeup Design, Publicity Design, Set Design, Sound Design, Playwrighting, Student Directed Scene). And there are two new events: Choreography and Group Tech. Go to floridathespians.com for event directions and critique sheets. 


                    Florida Theatre Conference - October 24-27, 2019

Chiles junior and senior theatre students wil have the opportunity to this event in Gainsville at Santa fe College.  It features College Auditions and Technical Theatre Portfolio presentations, play festivals and workshops for theatre acting and tech theatre students.
